I am sharing some of my random travel photos, this is not only for my followers but more of a reminder for me and my hubby of where we have been and what we have seen over the years. All good memories for us, I hope you enjoy too.

Nov 3, 2019 I have more trip photos from our recent road trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville North Sarah Fogartya.  On this day, we visited Grandfather Mountain State Park, there is an admission fee that is used to preserve this beautiful mountain park, it's biodiversity and all it's nature.

Oregon waterfalls

For my travel blog I thought I would show all the waterfalls we saw while vacationing in Oregon.

These waterfalls were all located at the Columbia River Gorge scenic highway. The gorge area is famous for its waterfalls 77 of them on the Oregon side of the river.  A few of the waterfalls could be seen right from the road. The waterfalls are all located within 15 miles of each other.

Multnomah Falls is 620 feet for both the upper and lower falls. The footbridge allows visitors to cross 105 ft above the lower falls. You can actually see a lot of this waterfall from the scenic road. Multnomah is known as Oregon's prime waterfall attraction and is the most famous.

Oneonta Falls, Oneonta Gorge. This Lower Oneonta Falls can only be seen by walking upstream from the Columbia River scenic hwy.

Bridal Veil Falls is a 2.2 mile roundtrip hike from the trailhead on the Columbia Gorge scenic hwy. The trail climbs to a wooden lookout with a view of the falls.

Horsetail Falls is 192 ft and is located right next to the Columbia Gorge scenic highway.

Wahkeena Fallsis a 1.1 mile roundtrip hike from the scenic hwy. It is 242 ft and is a tiered falls. Some of this waterfall can be seen from the road but for the best view you take the walk. The name Wahkeena comes from the Yakama tribe and means "most beautiful".

If you are ever in the Columbia River Gorge area you should definitely visit some of these beautiful waterfalls.

Ricketts Glen State Park

On Saturday hubby and I hiked the Falls trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. Ricketts Glen State Park is located 30 miles north of Bloomsburg, Pa. The falls trail is a 3.2 mile loop passing by 21 waterfalls. The other waterfalls are located off other trails. It is a very steep and sometimes difficult trail. We took our time stopping to enjoy the waterfalls and I was listening for the birds and taking photos. We did spook a turkey off the trail. And I saw a few Chickadees and turkey vultures soaring above us. It is a little early for the warblers though I do think I heard one off the trail. Ricketts Glen is noted for 23 varieties of warblers and the Bald Eagle. The park is also included in the Susquehanna River Birding trail.

The sign shows the Falls Trail and list the names of each waterfall that we saw, they range from 11ft to 94ft being the tallest.

Ricketts Glen has a total 23 waterfalls, beautiful hemlock trees, lots of pretty ferns and moss and bridges that cross the rivers.

The steps were steep and uneven and now my legs are feeling like I used muscles that I did not even know I had. LOL!

We crossed several different bridges along the way criss-crossing back and forth over the river.

After spending about 4 hours hiking on the Falls trail and at the park we headed to Wilkes Barre, Pa to spend the night at a Best Western hotel. After checking into to our room we headed to the Mohegan Sun casino at Pocono Downs. We had dinner at their Timber buffet, lots of good seafood and dinner choices. They also had other restaurants like a Ruth Chris and a Johnny Rockets, a great variety. The casino was very crowded, also included a long line of people waiting to see and get autographs of an actress on  the show Jerseylicious? After dinner we were ready to head back to our room for the night.

Thanks for the visit, enjoy your day!

Shenandoah's White Oak

First, I must mention these are my hubby's photos, he asked me to post them on one of my Watery Wednesday  post. On Jan 25 he decided to take a day trip to Shenandoah's White Oak Trail. This is his favorite trail to see the waterfalls while they are frozen. I was still at home recovering from my hand surgery and in no condition to go walking around on snow and ice. So today you are Traveling with Mike instead of Diet And Travel.

These do look much nicer if you click on the photos for a larger image.

BRRRR, it looks very cold!  I hope you enjoy hubby's photos and he will get a kick out of reading your comments.

Thanks for stopping by and please make sure to visit more Watery Wednesday post and thanks to 2sweetnsaxy for hosting.
