Florida Day 6

Florida Day 6

On day 6 of our Florida vacation we decided to return to the Circle B Bar Preserve in Lakeland Florida.  It is a huge place and we did not cover much of the preserve during our first visit. The following are various scenes from our hike on the preserve.

Please click on the photos for a larger image.

There was some early morning fog when we first arrived.

The spanish moss covering the trees is gorgeous.

One of the ponds with the fog and sunlight.

A gator swimming in the lake.

I loved the shape of the trees and the pretty spanish moss. If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend visiting the Circle B Bar Preserve.

Arenal Volcano & more

I am linking up with Linses Cotton's  Scenic Weekend

August 31, 2013

Happy Labor Day weekend!

I thought I would do a post on one of my favorite places,  it has been awhile since I have done a travel and Scenic Weekend post. Working full time it has been hard to keep up two blogs so my Travel blog has been ignored. I hope to do more posts in the future.

Some of my other post on Costa Rica

These photos are from my archives and from our trip to Costa Rica. I have to say Costa Rica was my favorite country to visit. I would go back in a NewYork minute. Above is a beautiful scene showing the Arenal Volcano.

We had a great view of the Arenal Volcano from the overlook. It is an active young volcano. It is located about 55 miles from San Jose, Costa Rica.

We had a great tour at the Arenal Hanging Bridge reserve. A beautiful place to visit and I enjoyed the hanging bridges. Along our swinging bridge walk we saw a small python, heard a lot of birds and saw some critters called Coati. I would love to go back to the Hanging Bridges just to take their bird tour and wildlife walk.

I am also sharing some of the scenery from our travels along the roads in Costa Rica. I believe in the distance is Lake Arenal which is a reservoir for hydroelectric power.

Beautiful green rolling hills with the turbines at the top. There was so much to see in Costa Rica, I especially love the lush green rainforest areas.

I hope you enjoyed my scenic weekend.  I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your comments. Thanks for stopping by to see my post and thanks to Linses Cotton for hosting Scenic Weekends.

Watery Wednesday & Where am I Part II

I am linking up my post with Tricia's Watery Wednesday.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I missed Tricia's first Watery Wednesday but I wanted to join in and post on her Watery Wednesday meme.

And if any one cares to join in on my fun at guessing where am I? I am sure one of the landmarks or famous places will give this popular city away.

Either way I hope you enjoy the photos!

I was amazed at all the pigeons that were gathered in this square.

I would think this shot would definitely give away my travel spot.

I hope you enjoyed traveling with me and my watery scenes. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the visit and comments.

Thank you to Tricia for hosting Watery Wednesday. Click on my side link to visit and join in
on the Watery Wednesday fun. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I wish everyone a Happy Turkey Day.

Where am I?

I love to travel and always enjoy looking back at my photos. Hubby, son and I have enjoyed traveling many places over the years. I thought it would be fun to put up one or two photos and see who can guess where we are?

I know there are a few people that will know right off the bat. The two photos are well known places and very popular tourist spots.

I hope there are some bloggers friends that will want to guess Where am I?

Have a Happy Sunday and a great week ahead.

Mount Hood, Oregon

I wanted to do some more of a trip reports on Oregon. This post will be on the Mount Hood area and the hike we took to Mirror Lake.

It was a clear day the first time we saw Mt Hood, so hubby and I were both in awe. Some of these photos you might have seen on my other blog Viewingnaturewitheileen

Above is the Mt Hood Lavender farm.

I was able to zoom in pretty close to see all the snow at the mountaintop.

We had such a beautiful day for traveling around the Mt Hood loop. A gorgeous blue sky and great views of Mt Hood.

We stopped at the lodge for a late lunch. We had a nice table near the window for more views of another mountain either Mt Jefferson or Mt Adams in the distance.

I do love these big stone fireplaces, this was looking down at the lunch buffet in the lodge's dining room.

I think there were more people there to enjoy the skiing than to enjoy the scenery.

Now we are on our hike to Mirror Lake. It is a 3 three mile round trip hike.

Along the hike, I was enjoying all the tree covered with this hanging moss.

We arrived at Mirror Lake and enjoyed the pretty view of Mt Hood and its reflection. I have so many photos from our trip, it is hard trying to choose which shots to use on my blog. So, I will be doing more of my Oregon travel reports. We had a great time and hubby loved Oregon so much he would like to retire there. I am still hoping to retire in a warmer climate. I hope you enjoyed my travel photos and stop back again to see more soon.

More Scenes from Curacao

Linking up with Scenic Sundays

This is just a quick post...I have some more scenes from the lovely island of Curacao. On this day we were on our way to a snorkeling and catamaran boat trip.

I loved the seeing the colorful buildings during our sightseeing of the island. This was a pretty church in Williamstad, Curacao.

I always loved the houses with balconies and french doors.

The sails go up on the catamaran.

One of the spots for snorkeling was a sunken tugboat. The large ferry is no longer being used is tied up and abandoned. Hopefully, someday they will find a good use for this ferry.

A few jet skiers came by as our catamaran was heading out. The resort beach on the left side was the Hyatt resort located kind of far from the city of Williamstad.

A different watersport we saw were the windsurfing boards.

Hubby and some others from our tour snorkeling near the sunken tugboat. Except for feeling a little seasick, it was a great tour with lovely views of the island and water.

Views from the top

Do you feel like sometimes you are on top of the world? Life has its ups and downs but mostly life has been good.
For my Scenic Sunday I thought I would do a post of my views from the top of the world. Well not really the top of the world but some seem pretty close to it.  Actually these shots are from various trips hubby and I have been on, we love to travel. The 22 years we have been together I believe we have managed at least one trip a year sometimes two if we could swing it.  My hubby likes to see the views from the top of mountains so we have hiked, we have driven to the top, we have taken trains and we have taken lifts.

As usual you can click on the photos for a larger image.

After a hike to the top of  Mt Tallac we had a view of Lake Tahoe.

After a train ride and some fancy lifts we arrived at the top Jungfrau, Switzerland

  Jungfrau Ice sculptures

Above another photo of  Jungfrau.  Also, while in Switzerland we also took lifts to see a view of Mt Blanc, which is the highest peak in Western Europe. We were actually in the clouds and did not have a great view. Once a cloud broke I believe we actually see the peak for a short time. By then I was ready to go down and kiss the ground. The lifts were small and shaky. Nothing like the lifts and trains we took to Jungfrau or to see the Matterhorn.

Above more hiking and climbing mountains, this time In Yosemite California.

  Hiking to the Yosemite Waterfalls.

We have driven to the top of the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park

The Going to the Sun road is a narrow winding road and in some places has waterfalls running right under the road.

Sunrise on top of the Haleakala Crater Maui, Hawaii. We saw the sun rising above the clouds.  If you go here wear some warm clothes it was freezing cold at the top of the crater.

Looking down from the top, a view from our helicopter ride around the island of Kauai, Hawaii. The NaPali coastline was gorgeous.

The helicopter ride took us into the Waialeale crater, Kauai, Hawaii where we saw waterfalls just about all of 360 degrees inside the crater.

Kauai's  Waimea Canyon... the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, Kauai, Hawaii

I hope you enjoyed my views of the top and  looking down from the top. I enjoyed reliving some of our trips thru my photos. To see more beautiful and wonderful scenes please visit Scenic Sunday

Thanks to the Holleys for hosting Scenic Sunday and thanks for visiting my post. Have a Happy Weekend!
